Indie studios

Run a studio, not a server

Cloud version control for indie Unreal Engine teams. It saves every change to your game, keeps the whole team in sync, and never loses a file. Indies don't have a DevOps team, and you don't need one: the exclusive-locking workflow AAA studios run on Perforce, with nothing to set up, private by default, from $25/user/mo.

Purpose-built

Designed for small teams with real projects

Affordable Indie plan

Solo devs start free forever with one project. The Indie plan lifts that to unlimited projects with unlimited storage and bandwidth, unlimited commits, and the full desktop app for €25/user/month. No seat minimums.

Flat per-user pricing

Bring on a collaborator for €25/user/month. No seat minimums, no admin overhead, no enterprise sales call.

Five-minute setup

Create a project, link the desktop app, start committing. No server provisioning, no admin configuration.

Your whole team can use it

Artists, writers, and audio folks all work from the same app. No Git CLI tutorials, no P4V training.

Private and never lost

Your project lives in private storage, never public and never indexed. Every version is integrity-verified and recoverable. Accidentally deleted the boss level? Restore it in one click.

Ship without a build engineer

Package your game from the desktop app with your own Unreal install and upload it to Steam, the Epic Games Store, or itch.io. On every plan, Free included, because it runs on your machine.

Source-available desktop app

Enterprise customers get the source code. Audit it yourself, build it yourself if you want to, never worry about vendor lock-in at the client layer.

The indie source control dilemma

Indies get stuck between three bad options. Git LFS is free but fragile. One artist forgets to run `git lfs install` and your project is full of pointer files instead of textures. Perforce is too expensive and operationally heavy to justify for a team of three. Cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive) has no real versioning and creates sync conflict nightmares on shared project folders. You end up duct-taping something together, losing hours to tooling that should Just Work, and occasionally losing work outright. All while your unannounced game sits in a shared folder anyone with a link can stumble into. USourceControl exists because this situation shouldn't be anyone's default: your game stays private (never public, never indexed), every version stays recoverable, and the whole thing is priced for an indie team, from €25/user/mo.

What's included in the Indie plan

The Indie plan is €25/user/month, for teams and companies earning under $100,000 USD a year, and includes: • Unlimited projects • Unlimited storage • Unlimited bandwidth • Unlimited commits • Full per-file version history • Unlimited shared plugins • The full desktop app (no gated features) • The web dashboard Solo devs can start free forever with one project. When your studio needs audit logs, priority support, a second device per seat, or dedicated support (or you pass $100K/year), move to the Studio plan at €70/user/month.

Upgrading when your team grows

Moving from Free to Indie takes two clicks on the billing page. Nothing migrates, nothing moves. Your existing project stays put, you unlock unlimited projects, and you can invite collaborators. Downgrading works the same way and keeps your data accessible. Your commits don't go anywhere. Your project history is preserved as long as your subscription is active.

FAQ

Common questions

What's included in the Indie plan?

€25/user/month gets you unlimited projects with unlimited storage and bandwidth, unlimited commits, full per-file version history, unlimited shared plugins, the full desktop app, and the web dashboard. No seat minimums, no feature gating. Indie is for teams and companies earning under $100,000 USD a year.

How many projects can I create?

Start free with one project, forever, no card required. Indie and Studio both include unlimited projects with unlimited storage and bandwidth. Either way, we never lock you out of your own work.

How does pricing scale as our team grows?

Free forever for solo devs, then flat per-user pricing: €25/user/month on Indie (for teams under $100K/year), €70/user/month on Studio. Projects, plugins, storage, and bandwidth are unlimited on both. Studio adds audit logs, priority support, a second device per seat, and dedicated support. Annual billing gives you two months free.

Can I use USourceControl with contractors or freelancers?

Yes. Invite them to a specific project with member-level access, pay per active user, remove them when the engagement ends. Their access is scoped to exactly what you share, and on Studio the audit log records everything they touch.

Do I need a technical co-founder to use this?

No. The desktop app is designed for non-engineers. Artists, designers, and writers can use it without any CLI knowledge. If your technical person sets up the first project, everyone else can join and contribute without learning Git.

Can we build and ship the game from USourceControl too?

Yes, and it costs nothing extra on any plan. The desktop app packages your project with your own Unreal install and uploads it to Steam, the Epic Games Store, or itch.io, with store credentials encrypted on your machine and never sent to us. If you want builds to happen without anyone sitting at a machine, the Forge runner installs on a spare box and builds on every commit. Both are included on every plan, Free included, because the hardware is yours.

What if I want to leave?

Your unreleased game stays yours. You can download the current state of any project at any time through the desktop app or API. We don't hold your project hostage if you decide to switch tools.
